How do you take care of daffodils?

I just bought a tiny pot of mintature daffodils. How much sunlight/water do they need? And how do I plant them again?

How do you take care of daffodils?
Daffodils need lots of sun light and not a lot of water. If you plant them outside in a sunny area they should be fine unless there's a drought or something.

You don't replant daffodils. Since they have bulbs, they rebloom every year.

When they're finished blooming and the stems are brown, dead-head them, or take some sissors and cut off the sections where the flower was. This isn't necessary to do, but better safe than sorry!
Reply:CLARIFICATION:

1. Daffodil is a 'Perennial' The bulbs do not have to be dug up ever year like the recommendation re: Gladiolli Bulbs. However, your yield and blooming will increase if you split the clusters the second or third year.

2. Location %26amp; Planting / depth %26amp; spacing

(a) if you live below the Mason Dixion line plant your Daffodil bulbs 1-2" deeper.

(b) Space between bulbs: If your plant "Peruvian Daffodil Bulbs" (heighth usually 24") space bulbs 6" apart.

3. Location %26amp; amount of Sun: there was a 'flower trend' in the early 80's where Daffodil, Tulips and Grape Hyathins were planted around or in front of the base of the trees. Look around and see where the daffodils are blooming in your area. They prefer sun but will bloom under that tree.

Daffodil Bulbs flowering in a Pot:

Enjoy them while you can. After they finish blooming do not cut off the dead leaves. You can plant them in your garden and tie the leaves back for next year. Or you can leave them in the pot and let them die back. Stop watering them and let the plant dry up then plant the bulbs in the fall.

Water: don't drown the plant; it's not like a new seedly that usually needs real moist soil. Stick you finger in the soil and you will know if it's too dry.

Planting Bulbs:

Plant Daffodil bulbs 2 inches apart, 6 inches deep. Try to pick a dry location and don't place them near plants that need alot of water in the summer. You can plant these bulbs under the shade of a tree or out in the open sun because the Daffodil blooms in the early spring.

Already planted Bulbs:

Daffodils can last for generations if you simply remember the following:

1.Fertilize with bone meal sparingly. Fertilize just before they bloom - this strengthens the plant for the next season too. You can skip a year if you like. If you notice allot of green but few blooms your plant is telling you it wants bone meal.

Note: Bone meal is controversial because some say it's good for the plant but it attracts the critters who love to eat the bulbs underground. We've used bone meal for years and we have bulbs that were planted by our grandmother in 1950's.

2. When the plant has bloomed only cut off the flower stems. (Nice cut flowers too) The leaves on the plant need to die on the plant and this strengthens the bulb. You can fold the leaves over and tie them with a rubber band or yarn. This method makes it easy for you to cut the brown leaves off when they are completely dead and gives your garden a neater appearance as you move into late spring.
Reply:WHAT THE HELL IS A DAFFODIL
Reply:A lot depends on the climate in your area and where you're going to be planting them.

Here's a useful link with some tips. Best of luck!
